The wand has no power of it’s own. No ritual tool does. The tools used in ritual and spellwork are merely that: tools. They can be used to get you into the frame of mind necessary for casting, but the energy comes from you. You can use the wand to direct the energies, but a finger works just as well. The power lies in you.

As to cleansing: One shouldn’t need to cleanse ritual tools but once, and that is immediately (or at least shortly) prior to their consecration. After that, cleansing should only be necessary if someone other than the owner of said tool (any tool) handles it. At that point, cleansing is recommended, as you can never tell what energies the tool might have absorbed.

Spellbooks can be useful early on, but the most effective ones are the ones you write yourself. Use spellbooks only as a ‘jumping off’ point, until you can get the hand of crafting them yourself.
