As a beginner witch, what’s’ the first thing I should know?

I am just about to start out so what are the most important things I need to know?

The most important thing would be to make an educated decision. Your decision to become a Wiccan or a Witch is something that people consider carefully before making the final decision to move forward. Some people stumble on something related to witchcraft which fascinates them and then decides to look closer. Or, they may have friends who are involved in witchcraft and they become interested. In many cases people discover that Wicca and Witchcraft beliefs are the same as their own beliefs. Here are some things to do to get started.

* Read everything you can find to get more information about Wicca and Witchcraft.

* Learn as much as you can about the basic beliefs and tenets of this path so that you can decide if the old ways are right for you.

* Meet witches in your local area and get to know them. If there are none close to you, there are many available online to talk and answer your questions.

* Make a list of the reasons why you think Witchcraft is your path. What does being a Witch mean to you? What do you want to achieve and learn? What are your fears? How do you see the Goddess and God? What does the Divine mean to you?

* Be absolutely honest with yourself in a journal. Never let anyone else read it, so that you can feel totally safe with the comments and thoughts you write in it. It will help you design your dedication ritual and will become your Book of Shadows.

* There are no right or wrong answers. It will help you understand your path.

* Always, listen to your inner voice.

* If you read, hear or are told does not feel right, then it isn’t right for you.

* If everything still feels right and you are sure Witchcraft is the path for you, it is the time to perform a dedication ritual.
