If you are not born a witch or wicca can you still do spell and all of that? What if you would want to be a witch or wicca but you can’t aford any of that stuff like books andeverything else? Will you help me become a witch or wicca??????????????? I wish I could be like you. From wanna be witch, Beverly Seese
Dear Beverly,
You do not have to be born a tich or have Wiccan parents to learn witchcraft and practice the Craft. Wicca is about personal choice and decision and not inheriting it from your parents.
A great many Wiccans I know did not begin their journey to the faith with any family membersto help them out or riches to buy every book and spell component on the market. You can learn about Wicca and decide if you want to be a witch without a lot of money.
The first thing I would do is go to the library and see if they have “Teen Witch” or “To Ride a Broomstick” by Silver Ravenwolf. Even if you are a little older, “Teen Witch” is a great introduction to Wicca and witchcraft. It will help you to learn what a witch is and isn’t, what things you absolutely have to have to practice (not much) and the training that you need.
Most covens will also happily teach newcomers about the Craft and help them to acquire the things you need to practice witchcraft. However, most will not let you participated in rites until you have been studying for a year and a day. This is meant to help find people who are committed to the Wiccan faith and not simply enamored with casting spells.
Many of the items that Wiccans need to cast spells are common household items and you will not need to spend lots of money on them. So, check out the book, read up on the Faith, and talk to someone in your local coven for guidance. Then, you can become a witch.
