Can males also become Wiccans and which books are helpful when studying Wicca?

ok ive been looking at wicca websites and i was since i am a boy can i be a wiccan. also what books would you recomend me reading up on.

Merry Meet Seeker!

Thank you for your question. It is one I often get from young male Seekers because most of the internet sites only have female Wiccans as members. It is not because these sites are discriminating against men though, it is simply because more women than men are interested in Wicca and follow the Wiccan Path.

In other words, the answer is a simple ‘Yes’! As a boy, you too can become a Wiccan.

Men do not play an inferior role to women in Wicca. As a matter of fact, one of the greatest Wiccans of all time was a man. During the fifties and until his death in 1964, this particular man was the dominant influencer in Wicca. His name is Gerald Gardner. You may have heard of him. It is after Gerald Gardner that the Gardnerian tradition in Wicca is named.

You are also asking me about books. Interestingly enough one of my favorite authors on the topic of Wicca is also a man. His name is Scott Cunningham. He passed on some years ago, but his books are still widely available today. There are two you may want to buy and that I strongly recommend:

The first one is: A guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham ISBN 0-87542-118-0.

The second one is: Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham ISBN 0-87542-184-9.

You should also work through these books in the order that I provided them in. I am very sure that you will not only enjoy reading these, but that you will also learn a great deal in the process.

May Love and Light illuminate your Path. Brightest Blessings.
