Hello. This is my first time at your site and I must say it’s refreshing to have someone to finally ask my question to. I’ve been all alone in my community. My issue is that for years now I’ve felt the urge/ability to use power the universe provides. I feel the power run through me naturally, but seem to have a mental block about it. Almost as if there is something in me holding me back. What could I do to hone in and learn to control these powers?

Merry Meet Seeker. It is wonderful to hear from an eager person like you. Of course, you are absolutely correct when you say that the power runs through us naturally. It is up to us to corral the powersof the Universe and combine it with our inherent powers to create our future. There are many reasons for the mental block that is holding you back: 1. Sometimes religious teachings make us believe that we have no powers and that all this talk about creating our future is all hog-wash. To get to the bottom of this mental block, you have to go back into your childhood and find out when you started to learn about our origins. If people told you that you were made by some “god” and that you have to only pray to him, then you are in the majority. Don’t despair, most people who have been brain-washed into thinking that only religions know about divinity and that the human race is helpless without assistance from that invisible Grand Creature who refuses to reveal Himself (oh, no, it can never be a Her..) . As you can see, most people have very good imaginative powers and when books are written to hammer the beliefs of a few and called “The Book” etc as though there are no other books in this world, we have to look further to find out what the Universe is all about. 2. Patience – Sometimes all that is necessary to remove the mental block is patience and perseverence. Reading books about Wicca, other ways of life all around the world such as Hinduism and its rituals, and many other ideas that originate from people like you who have the guts to think for themselves. 3. Cleaning and cleansing the area where you do your spells also can help you achieve your goals. Casting a circle is important in such an environment. Sometimes, even though we raise enough energy to get our goals out into the Universe, there may be a lot of negative energy surrounding you which will negate your energy and lower the total energy required for your rituals. In this case, find a natural altar such as a beach or the top of a mountain where you can safely work with your powers. Brightest Blessings Rose.
