How do i separate what is made up by posers and what is the really good information?

I guess that’s a matter of opinion. A good guideline, though, is that if you run across people who like to talk about what a powerful witch they are, they are probably full of $*it. Know it alls and the arrogant are good indications, as well. If they talk about spells and curses more often that noticing out loud the gifts of the elements (a perfect sunset, a good, strong wind, and a new sprout) they haven’t got it. That’s just my opinion. Become educated and ask those questions, you’ll pick up pretty fast on who is genuine and who has been watching too much TV.
