Merry Meet, young Wiccan. It is very nice to meet someone like you who is interested in Wicca at such a young age. A wand is used as a focusing object for magickal power. Wands have been used for centuries by many cultures. The African cultures used their wands to beat on drums and make music, dance and magick. Others used wands during ceremonies and rituals where they created sacred circles or sacred spaces to keep the negative energy out and the positive energy in. I guess you can make one of wood from your neighborhood. Find out if there are trees such as ash, birch, etc. Or see if you can get some driftwood. Whatever wood you choose should be strong, and should not be cut from a tree. If you find a tree branch on the ground and if it is reasonably straight, about twelve to sixteen inches long (or the size of your arm), take it home. When you have a rod of the correct size, clean it and polish it with a cloth. Then wrap it with a silver band or a ribbon. You may also use silk, lanyard or black cloth and wind the strips around the wand as many times as you need. Use superglue to stick the end of the loop to the wand. Now find a crystal for the end point. This is a focal point for the energy. Also use beads, feathers, seeds, nuts, dried flowers, herbs, shells and other personal objects to decorate the wand using superglue or any similar strong glue to keep it all together. Now your wand is ready to use. Hold the wand toward the East and chant: Guardians of the East, Energize this wand! Now you can use the wand and charge it with your own power everytime you use it.
