How dose one become a witch?
If you are interested in being a witch, the following may help you:
- Read all about pagan religions, their origins, their history, current practices etc.
- Find out if there are wicca groups or covens in your area. Such groups initiate people into witchcraft and also help them establish and start their practice.
- Find out information about deities that are worshipped and decide which deity you would like to concentrate on. There is also the “One†or “All†deity who encompasses all the individual deities, female and male.
- Make your mind stronger by practicing meditation every day. Witchcraft is the art of empowering ourselves to put forth our intentions in such a way that the cosmic energy (forces of the universe) can be harnessed and aligned with our goals and desires.
- There are no good witches and bad witches. There are good people and bad people and sometimes the bad people happen to be witches. So do not believe all the negative publicity put forth by religions that do not believe in individual intentions or free will that was given to us by the universal creator.
- Decide what you will put on your sacred space or altar. Your choice are figurines of the Goddess or God or both, candles to represent the four directions, North, South, East and West, a pentacle for meditation and rituals, and a table or chest to place all your items. Other objects that are used in witchcraft include the Athame, the broom, the cauldron, a wand, incense, herbs, a cotton robe, etc. Most of these items are not necessary, but they help in establishing our moods and make the environment conducive to our rituals.
- Perform the initiation where you cleanse your space and pledge obeisance to the deity that you will be calling upon to help you in your magickal experiences.
- That’s it! Now you are a practicing witch!
Blessed Be!
