Is witchcraft scary?

A couple of my friends are into witchcraft, I am too but I want to learn before I do anything. They scared me when they told me a negative force could enter their circle. Is this true a negative force can actually come and harm me? Or are they just stupid? And what books or sites do you recommend for me? P.S You better be the real deal!!

If you cast a circle properly, then no negative force can enter it. However, it is important to know what you are doing before one starts out in witchcraft.  Too many people “play at it” and end up hurting themselves or just making the entire Craft look bad.

If you are serious about learnign about witchcraft, I suggest you get “Teen Witch” or “To Ride a Silver Broomstick” by Silver Ravenwolf and rea dup. There are dozens of great sites about witchcraft, but Iw ould start with the books first. They will tell you what witchcraft is and what it isn’t and help you to decide if it is right for you.

Many teens get interested in witchcraft because they believe it will be a simple solution to the problems of being a teenager. It isn’t. Life is just as difficult for witches as it for anyone else. The difference is that the really good witches I know have figured out how to take the little curves life throws at you and turn them into blessings.

Your friends warning that negative energy can be a part of witchcraft if you are not careful should be heeded. Witchcraft is not scary or evil, but it should be respected. If you weild the power of the Craft unwisely and without guidance, then you risk bringing negative energies upon yourself.

It is very important when casting a circle to pay close attention to the circle and not be distracted. It is also important to know how to completely close the circle and keep out things that would intrude.
