Merry Meet Anne, I can understand your frustration in making your spells work. As a beginner most of us go through this “phase”. Only with tremendous patience and determination can we achieve anything in life. Similarly, follow the steps that I will outline below to increase the power of your spells. 1. Make your own spell. When you think of the end result and design the spell (ritual and wording) accordingly, the spell takes on a its own life! So think deeply of what your intentions are and decide how you will go about working the spell. For example, if you want to make more money in life, learn from the books what items you may need (such as incense, candle, herbs, etc) to make it work. The more you learn about magick, the more effective your spells will be. 2. Learn to meditate. Even if you don’t do spells everyday, find the time daily to sit down and stop your thoughts. Meditation is only an exercise of your spirit to make your mind quieten down. Our mind is like an unruly child that is constantly doing something and will not settle down. So we have to act as the adult and command it to sit quietly in the corner for 15 – 20 minutes a day. When you have this down pat, you have crossed another hurdle. 3. Gather all the items you need beforehand. Do not open up your circle just to get a candle or a box of matches. If you are not used to casting the circle and closing it before working on your spell, do so. This keeps all negative and disruptive energies outside the circle and creates the perfect atmosphere for your spell workings. 4. Always take a nice, long, hot bath before you do any spell. This not only cleanses your body and mind, it relaxes you so that you can go deeper into meditation. Also, by wearing new clothes after the bath, you have removed all the obstacles to your concentration (negative energies, etc.) 5. Work your spell without any disruption. If you have created your own spell, you will be using your own words which will add more power to your intentions. See your result, visualize it for real and almost smell it happen. Your belief should not be in the future tense, it should be in the present tense. Instead of chanting “I will have money”, emphasize the fact that “Money comes to me, NOW!”.
