Colors of Candle Magick

When fire was discovered, the natives used to create huge bonfires for their nature celebrations. As bonfires and lanterns evolved into hearth fires and candles, magic was also transformed. The different colors and shapes of candles signified their utility and effectiveness. Thus, the colors of candles took importance and it added to the success of spell working and other rituals.
Black candles are used specifically to remove negativity. It is also used for binding, protection and shape shifting. Silver candles are used to represent the Goddess Herself. They also invite female energy, astral energy and aid in increasing our powers of telepathy, clairvoyance and intuition.

White candles signify peace and purity. They may also represent the Goddess. It is sometimes used to symbolize the Higher Self and also purity in the form of virginity

Brown candles are used to invite special favors and also to sway friendships. They are also used to represent the Earth and sometimes to repel evil sources of energy.

Purple candles on the other hand are used for higher spiritual purposes such as the opening of the third eye, to increase psychic ability, to unearth hidden knowledge and to increase spiritual power. It also helps in influencing important and powerful people in our community. Blue is usually used to represent the element Water. It is also connected to the acceptance of wisdom, healing, peace, protection, calmness, good fortune, spiritual inspiration and also as a catalyst to spiritual inspiration.

Green of course, represents the element Earth, Nature and all of its magnificence. It is a catalyst for physical and mental healing and can bring financial windfalls and growth in personal areas. Green also represents Mother Earth with Her expertise in tree and plant magick.

The color pink is associated with gentle and innocent affection or romance. Also, it is a caring, nurturing color that enables us to increase good will on this planet. Red, on the other hand, is the element of Fire which represents passion, strength, lust, driving force, survival instincts, etc. It is indeed a symbol of fiery passion.

Orange candles are also used for general success and legal matters. It also comes into play in Justice or property deals and sales.

Gold colored candles are used to represent God and to celebrate the power of Males. It also signified happiness and winning. However, yellow colored candles imply intelligence, memory, imagination. Gold is also the color of the Sun, the one that gives us sustenance and life.
