There are serious matters that you need to consider before you make your final decision to join a coven. It requires a substantial investment in terms of time and effort. It involves doing an in-depth study of the Craft and a great deal of introspection, amongst others. Even if, as a student / Seeker / Dedicant, you are not quite sure that this is path you will eventually follow, that which you learn [...]

In general, Celtic Wiccans celebrate exactly the same 8 Sabbats as Wiccans on other paths. Some may add additional celebrations such as the raising of the May-Pole Ceremony. The Celtic New Year was also celebrated on November 1, the day after Samhain. The lunar calendar is an important aspect of Celtic Wicca. Unique to this path is that each one of the 13 lunar months is named after a plant or a tree.

Is being a Christian and a Wiccan at the same time possible?
Yes and No.
Against the backdrop of the Christian Bible – cover to cover – no. Not in the very least.
If viewed against the backdrop of the New Testament only – yes. As much as it is possible to be a Dianic Wiccan or a Celtic Wiccan. But … and this is a serious BUT … there are some limitations: Although many [...]

Dianic Witches believe that the Goddess is present in every living thing – plants, animals, and humans – as well as the earth itself. They believe that it is from this presence of the Goddess, that life exists. Because the Goddess is present in all beings, Dianics believe that:
* All beings must be honored as Divine.
* All women are Goddesses.
* All men have the divine feminine within [...]

Fuelled by the hate campaigns against witches, ordinary people and nobility alike started blaming witches for every bit of misfortune that came about. Blame for everything ranging from bad harvests, to fires, to animal disease and even to the Bubonic Plague were ascribed to the evil powers of Witches. The problem was though, that not only Witches were targeted in this frenzy. Most of the victims of [...]

During the Burning Times and even for a time thereafter, Witches went underground. From the mid 1930s onwards a slow re-emergence of Witchcraft started taking place. A leader in this re-emergence was Gerald Gardner, an Englishman. In the USA, pressure was exerted by the Spiritualist movement to repeal the Witchcraft Laws, an effort which was rewarded with success in 1951.
Witchcraft started growing [...]

Tools of the Craft
Real Green Witches do not buy tools at all. Like the Hedgewitches, they favor making their own. They believe that by making your own tools from the materials found freely in nature, you will be better attuned to your tools and that the tools will be better attuned to nature in return. It is for this reason that indigenous materials are preferred above all else. When wood is needed, [...]

On Spells and Parental Approval
This is the opportune moment to briefly touch on the topic of spells. Yes, many of the Teen Seekers out there have a really strong desire to cast spells to make life a touch easier. This would include spells to cause an improvement in grades, attracting a specific boy / girl and causing that drop-dead gorgeous cheerleader all the guys are drooling about to break out [...]

Hawthorn
The Hawthorn Tree is associated with Beltane. Traditionally Beltane was celebrated on the first day the Hawthorne blossomed. At Beltane the Goddess and God consummate their love and as a result the Goddess falls pregnant. The Hawthorn is also believed to be under the direct protection of the Faerie Folk. As a result, it was frowned upon if a Hawthorn was cut and the belief was held that felling [...]

Magick has several ingredients, the three most important of which are:
* It requires engagement with nature (which comprises of all those bounteous gifts offered to humankind by the grace of Deity),
* It requires application of will (with Free Will one of the rare treasures afforded to humankind), and
* Connecting with Deity (form of worship).
The fusion of these three ingredients manifests change [...]

Invoking the God and the Goddess
Stand in the centre of the circle, facing the altar. Raise the wand above your head using your dominant arm. Look at the tip of the wand. Say:
“Goddess, Gracious Lady of Love and Light. I invite Thee to bless this Rite by being present here tonight.†Visualize a Silver Light streaming through the tip of the wand, thus entering the circle. Lower the Wand [...]

When brewing the use of microwave for heating purposes is discouraged, as is the use of metal containers. These negatively affect the essence of the herbal material you use in your potions. Enamel, pottery and glass containers are recommended, as are conventional and traditional methods of heating. A very safe form of brewing is achieved when a glass jar is used and the mixture is left on sunlight [...]

The Mano Cornuto
The Manu Cornuto is a hand gesture where the index and ring fingers are pointed upwards and the rest of the fingers held down by the thumb against the palm of the hand. In Wicca, the Mano Cornuto is used in some traditions as the sign of the Horned God and is used during ritual when invoking the God. The God is the masculine aspect of Deity and the Goddess the feminine aspect of Deity. [...]

Deity
Traditional Witches worshipped Nature as an all-powerful force instead of worshipping Deity. Wicca is polytheistic: Modern Witches worship a single Goddess and a God as female / male polarity, a single Goddess and God containing multiple aspects, or multiple Goddesses and Gods. The multiples can be derived from a single pantheon or from multiple pantheons in some cases.
Days of Power
In Traditional [...]

Garter
Strictly speaking, the garter is an item of clothing. Its use however is not to hold up stockings, but a symbol of status in many covens. It is traditional for the High Priestess to add a silver buckle to her garter when a Priestess leaves the mother coven to hive off a new coven. Of interest is that a cave painting was found dating from the Paleolithic era where a male shaman is depicted wearing [...]

Deities
The Faerie tradition has many deities. The primary goddess is the androgynous Star Goddess. All the other deities – there are six – are aspects of the Star Goddess. These are:
* The Blue God
* The Corn Maiden
* The Harvest Lord
* The Great Mother
* The Winter King
* The Crone
Guardians
There are seven Guardians in the Faerie Tradition. They are the Cloud People, the Watchers or [...]

Let us return to the statement that many ordinary people have unwittingly practiced the Art of spell casting. Here is an example: “John Walters is critically ill and has been admitted to the ICU ward of the local hospital. His wife and son are allowed to be with him. They take hands and pray to their Deity (for instance Jesus). They ask that John be cured. During the prayer they visualize a healthy [...]

The Money Tree Spell (courtesy Pappilon and Rev. Darkwolf)
When to perform:
Do this spell on a Sunday, either when the moon is waxing or full. For extra power choose the time of day when the moon is favorably aspected with Jupiter. (A copy of Llewelyn’s Moon Sign Annual is a great investment for any Witch to make). This spell is very effective if you feel strapped for cash.
Ingredients:
1 Black [...]
