Finding a legitimate coven or teacher

Hi Lola Jean–

You came to the right place. If you are interested in Wicca, but not sure where to look, I would suggest you start with your local phone book. Even in many small towns, you can often find a bookstore that caters to Wiccans and other non-mainstream religions.

Another option, if you are in a community with a local college or university, would be to check with the religion or philosophy departments on campus. They are usually very open-minded and are likely to have contacts within the Wiccan community.

If all else fails, websites like this one can help you connect with other people who are interested in Wicca. Here is a link to my local Wiccan community: www.sipa.timerift.net/home

That is the Southern Illinois Pagan Alliance and though they may not be anywhere near you, they are a respectable group that can probably help you find a teacher closer to where you are. On their page, SIPA has links to several covens, including specialty covens that can answer questions about the way they practice the craft. Email any of them and they will be happy to help you find someone in your own area.

One word of advice: be careful about general web searches. Especially if you are new to the craft, it would be very easy to come across someone who wants to give you phony information or tell you that all witches are evil. Concentrate on groups that promote good feelings and remember the laws, especially “Harm None,” and you should be able to find what you are looking for.

    Dear Gina,
if your mind heart and soul really wants a teacher, call for him/her from your heart all the time. You shall have a teacher soon

    Blessed Be
